I have $7000 in credit card debt, should I go to a debt consolidator?
June 8, 2010 by admin · 9 Comments
I’m trying to work at paying off my debt and get my credit score up. I have close to $7000 in credit card debt (I have 7 credit cards). Some of the credit cards have high APRs between 16% and 24%. I’ve been paying all my monthly payments on time and have been paying more than the minimum payment. Do you think going to a debt consolidator would be better or even helpful? If so, what are good companies to go to?
I don’t have a home. I’m 21 yrs old and got a little credit crazy when I got my first credit card out of high school. I would eventually like to buy a home but I’m working on getting rid of the debt first.
Why is my very old credit card debt now being sent to city marshall for collections?
I received a letter from my city marshall stating they are considering garnishing my paycheck, if I didn’t pay my old credit card debt. I was shocked and not sure if the letter was real or not. Why would the city marshalls care about my old credit card debt? I don’t known what to expect.

Is credit card debt settlement bad for your credit?

I am a senior in college, I have no job now as I am finishing school. I start work in June, and I actually have good credit, over 700, and 5k in credit card debt. I’ve paid my bill in full always in the past until my last killer spring break. Debt settlement sounds cool to cut the debt in half which I would pay off with a lump sum, or should I just stomach it for another month where I can pay it all off entirely in full. Thanks.

I currently have around $3,200 in credit card debt, which is a large yet manageable amount. I want to pay this debt off slowly. What is a good timeframe to completely pay off my balance? Is a year or two a good goal or should I be more aggressive?
I know it depends on what I want to do, but I am not sure if having large amounts over time is a bad thing over than the obvious interest accruing.
What is the best method for consumer credit card debt relief?

We started a program with “Consumer Credit Counselors” This progarm has us pay the Consumer Credit Counselors, then they pay the credit cards every month. All they do is lower some of the interest rates. They don’t negotiate amount owed. The payments are too high for us, so we looked into other alternatives. We found one company that will do it differently for less. They have you pay into an escrow account, and they pay off each credit card individually. They say they negotiate lower balances and interest rates. The payment would be lower and the payoff time cut in half. Does anyone know of any reason we shouldn’t do this? Are there any other better ways? WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET CONSUMER DEBT RELIEF with no loans?
